FF movies are entertaining for what they are This, however, is a god damn travesty. Hey, sometimes I can turn my brain off haha (Although I shouldn't have to do that for Star Trek)

Hey! Careful there I liked Guardians of the Galaxy! I am Groot! As do I! GotG was amazing fun! But Trek is not GotG and to have this coming out on Trek's 50th birthday...um...yeah... Exactly. If they wanted to do something action funny sci fi like Guardians then they should have come up with a new intellectual property to do it with. I don't like it when they twist something into somthing it isnt simply because said franchise already has name recognition.

I will wait for it to come out on Netflix. This new Trek doesn't have any of the thoughtful elements that the television shows had. This new stuff is mostly just brainless testosterone fueled action and adventure. Which can be fun, but it isn't really Trek.

As I said before, I enjoy the FF series and I think the last one in particular was very well done and handled Paul Walker's death in a respectful way. I'm not getting the same vibes from this movie however.

As I said before, I enjoy the FF series and I think the last one in particular was very well done and handled Paul Walker's death in a respectful way. I'm not getting the same vibes from this movie however. I agree and the FF movies are indeed fun at times, Im not really a car person though But again Trek has a waaaaaaaay diff 'feel' to it to make it Trek, than FF and GoTG. Be nice some day if folks who understood and respected the Trek ideals actually made the films. I mean Wrath of Khan had story elements and ties to great works such as Melville's Moby Dick and Dante's Inferno written into it, as well as a metaphor to Kirk coming to terms with a mid life crisis where by the end he sees his life isn't half over....he still has half of it left to go. None of that is in any of these new films. I think I'm just tired of some modern blockbusters blurring the lines or dumbing down a product for a mass market appeal (more action, more 'slosions, rather than depth and a meaningful story with characters) instead of holding firm and making the mass market step up some and I dunno....think The Martian, Gravity and even Interstellar are more Trek like than anything these new films have ever come close too. That is just my opinion.

Heck, what we do here is closer I'd say as well.

Well, what we do here is in tribute to what Trek embodies, with a bit of modern flair. Our stories have depth, that's what the reboots lack.

It's everything we feared and more. not even Shatner wants to be associated with the new franchise.

Lol reshooting and adding in characters this late in the game. It may be even worse than the red dawn remake and that's hard to top on the crapometer.

They need to just let the reboot die.

The problem is the 'fandom' it has built up.
In all honesty I have nothing wrong with the reboot films as stand-alone. Heck, they could be quite an interesting universe by themselves--very high sci-fi. I only have a problem when people start to see that as Trek. I go to Star Wars for mind-numbing explosions and violence with a light glaze of story and I go to Star Trek for cerebral questions that make me question my very existence as a person.
Hell. If I had to choose between an entire series based on the reboot or watch the TNG episode with the Felicium for eternity? I'd go with the TNG episode.
