Bad news on the "sequel to Beyond" front, good news on the "Karl Urban as Judge Dredd" front?

Not surprised, he has been floating the idea out there for awhile now. He is actually a fan. Star Trek movies have been a mixed bag of utterly awful to kinda good. He is a quality, albeit eccentric, director and producer. So why not?
The Nerdist has good interview podcasts and coverage.

I am more in line with Cyg...although I am not thrilled about the idea of an R rated Trek

An R rated trek, especially made by Tarantino would be interesting, in the form of a whole new perspective. I'm definitely looking forward to this.

To clarify, I don't have a problem with Tarantino himself. I have a problem with trying to make Star Trek an R-rated movie from the beginning. Unless this is just his way of ensuring that he has the creative freedom to do what he wants regardless of normal rating restrictions, I don't see how starting off with at R is a good idea.
