Was that a nx class near the end? Weird.

It looks like the ruined Enterprise cobbled together with what was left(which sorta looked like an NX class)...which would be...weird too

Three movies in, time to crash the ship for sentimental reasons. Unlike the other Star Trek 3, I'm not that emotional attached to it. Or the characters, or the setting, or etc...

I'll end up seeing it just because I want to see the end of this trainwreck.

I think it's a trailer fake-out. They did this in the Into Darkness trailer too... when you see the damaged Enterprise losing altitude around Earth, and then it cuts to a shot of the Vengeance crashing into San Francisco (But you think it's the Enterprise because of how they cut it)

I'm still very cautious after STID. I'll go see it but I'm keeping my expectations very low.

No one really can blame you. I certainly can't. To me, they crossed a line with the whole role reversal bit at the end of ID.

You know, this is the weirdest thing for me.
I was sooooo accepting of the reboot series, like, when everyone else hated the first film I was elated that there was /new/ Star Trek! But like, as it has gone on it has slowly gotten worse and worse... And the part that is really the kicker for me is that we are only three films in.

I thought it was good. I will withhold further comment until everyone who wants to see has seen it.
Let this be a warning to those who post after me: no spoilers as of yet please.

I felt that this was much closer to what the more traditional fans wanted out of the new Star Trek movies. If you haven't liked the movies yet, you might actually like this one! There's still a focus on action, but it's a much more character-driven story than the previous films in the reboot trilogy, and it brings depth to the table by exploring the scope of the universe more than Star Trek and Into Darkness did.
Hopefully, that was vague enough to be postable.

The problem is the 'fandom' it has built up. In all honesty I have nothing wrong with the reboot films as stand-alone. Heck, they could be quite an interesting universe by themselves--very high sci-fi. I only have a problem when people start to see that as Trek. I go to Star Wars for mind-numbing explosions and violence with a light glaze of story and I go to Star Trek for cerebral questions that make me question my very existence as a person. Hell. If I had to choose between an entire series based on the reboot or watch the TNG episode with the Felicium for eternity? I'd go with the TNG episode. Ah, but Reboot series, or Code of Honor?
